Rhodes To Revolution - Rhodesia’s Bush War / An Arc in Africa’s History 1890-1980 [Documentary Series]

In landlocked Central Africa, 130 years ago, an evolutionary saga took place. It lasted 90 years, to create modernity from raw untamed bushlands in Ancient Zambezia. This drama invoked nine decades of progress - from Cecil Rhodes’ Pioneer Column in 1890, with more settlers thereafter, to 1980.

Amid initial adversity, and four wars in its first decade, there followed more decades of prosperity - and then 16 years of war again.

That brutal bush war, supported and armed by foreign powers, was conceived, funded, with radical and socialist-aligned belligerents, an aimed to overturn Pax Rhodesiana in its last years.

The war brought an abrupt end to Central Africa’s longest established and most modern state. It wrought tragedy to almost all and led to an inheritor state – Zimbabwe – that fell into the hands of One-Party dictatorship, corrupt elites, nomenklatura, with military junta.

It was to impoverish millions. This is the story of 'Rhodes to Revolution - The Bush War in Rhodesia / An Arc in Africa's History'

This hard-hitting presenter led documentary will spell out and unfold the dynamics of near forgotten piece of African history.
